Proper 3D! Animated, too, although for some reason that doesn't show up in my static camera shots.

I have definitely reached the point where emulators are hindering me; IdeaS does support 3D ... but the PopMatrix function doesn't appear to work correctly. Which is a problem, really (this is on top of the fact textures in FIFO chains don't work, which I was working around by not using textures yet...)

Luckily, now I've flashed the firmware I can netboot the DS directly. Only from my laptop, but it didn't take long to set up a batch file that compiles the binary on my desktop, copies it to the laptop, and launches the wireless multiboot program over there... ;) Testing is hence plausible. If still somewhat annoying - even with the faster boot the firmware mod gives you, it's still a good 10-20 second delay before your program is actually running.

Awesome job!. Did you create the 3D model yourself, or rip it from FF7 ?

I must admit, I completely failed to consider the fact that the screen was backlit. I mostly tend to let the camera set up everything itself ... obviously the firmware is Deficient when it comes to taking close up shots of a DS!

Duly noted for next time, anyway - at least this time I was displaying nothing useful on the subscreen...

Hint on photographing reflective screens: turn your flash off. A backlit screen throws out a lot of light on its own, you don't really need it so much and it'll get rid of all the reflection. [example] - That's taken in my room five minutes ago under artificial light, hand-steady camera.

Failing that, line it up so that the vertical DS screen occupies the righthand side of the viewfinder and the flash is actually pointing at the desk that you're standing the DS on, markedly to the left of the screen, so the bright reflection doesn't go right back into the CCD. [example]
